The University of Connecticut ended its football season on a high note, after experiencing the loss of a teammate, cornerback Jasper Howard.
Playing in the PapaJohns.com Bowl, the Huskies were led by halfback Andre Dixon, who rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown in the team’s 20-7 victory over South Carolina.
Dixon was named Most Valuable Player and joined teammate Jordan Todman as 1,000-yard rushers, the first time two UConn backs have surpassed the mark in a single season.
Howard was killed in an on-campus incident following a dance earlier in the season.
