2008
6.0 average
1,850 yards
20 TD
Career
2,228 yards
22 TD
Shonn Greene told his teammates and the world that he was leaving Iowa for the NFL Draft, following the program’s win over South Carolina in the Outback Bowl.
As a Junior, Greene rushed for 1,850 yards and 20 touchdowns, putting him one behind LeSean McCoy for the NCAA lead among backs.
Greene lacks top end speed and quickness at the line, causing him to get tied up by lineman or linebackers if there is not a gaping hole.
He racked up the bulk of his yards in just one season, so his NFL employer will be getting relatively fresh legs.
He is not a threat in the receiving game, limiting his skillset and appeal to NFL teams.

[...] RB Shonn Greene Not good. Playing in the speed deprived Big Ten is one thing, but this is the NFL. Omar Kelly of SunSentinel.com says, “He’s a grinder who doesn’t get caught from behind too often.” Ah, but one must get past defenders to be caught from behind. Greene excels under two conditions: 1) he plays a team that can’t tackle 2) he is afforded the opportunity to run through a hole the size of the Grand Canyon. I’ll take Donald Brown every day of the week and twice on Sunday. [...]
