Mike Lowell Gets Injection
Posted by Dave Cherubin June 29, 2009 at 5:37 pm
Mike Lowell received an injection that might relieve inflammation in his ailing hip. Doctors also drained fluid from his surgically repaired joint.
It will take a few days before they determine if the treatment was successful. A stint on the disabled list is a possibility if Lowell’s hip does not respond well to the shot.
The Red Sox Third Baseman received a dose of Synvisc – a gel-like substance that sometimes provides relief for inflamed tissue.
It is unlikely that Lowell will join the team in Baltimore where they are playing the Orioles the next three days.

Yesterday at Loudon, Joey Logano became the youngest ever Sprint Cup champion. At 19 years old, Logano won the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 at NHMS in Loudon, New Hampshire. Logano had a ton of help from his pit crew.
In fact – the pit crew makes a racecar go — literally. Seven men go over the wall to change tires, fuel-up, and get the car back on the track in 13 seconds or less.
