Makes Me Want To Puke

I can’t take it anymore. What’s so hard to like about fighting in hockey? Players show emotion; fans get into the game.  It’s great.  But not in the eyes of some…

This blog post put me over the top — infused fury into my veins, even. It’s by Kostya Kennedy, a senior writer for Sports Illustrated, and it mocks anyone who appreciates fighting in hockey. In essence, it is mocking me. Well, nobody can voice my argument better than Mike Milbury. FYI: “Pansify” and “Granola People” are the quotes of note.

Okay. Alright. I just need to respond to one of Kennedy’s points. Then I will leave you to your granola:

And if fighting were out of the game, I sure wouldn’t stop watching hockey. Would you?

Of course not. But that’s like asking a college student if the funnel was taken out of drinking, would he/she stop drinking beer. The answer is obviously “no”. But why take the fun out of life?

Ooo, but it’s not so much fun for that kid who died or the kid who had a seizure, is it, smart guy?

No. You’re right. It probably was not a whole lot of fun for either of them. Can’t argue with that. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go eat my chicken parmesan and drink a beer. Don’t worry. There will be no funnel.
