Kessel on the Move?

The NHL Draft is tonight – and much like Rajon Rondo and the Celtics, Bruins forward Phil Kessel is front and center with trade rumors. The latest from TSN.ca who reported that the Bruins have offered Phil Kessel, who currently is unsigned, to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Tomas Kaberle and the Leafs seventh pick. Kessel had 36 goals for the B’s last season along with 24 assists, but could miss the first month of next season while he recovers from shoulder surgery.
It’s no secret that the Bruins are trying to move up from the 25th pick tonight. Chiarelli said in his media briefing earlier this week, “Our guys have our eyes on this one player that is rated higher than where we’re picking and so, certainly, one of my goals is to at least try and move up. I don’t know if I’ll succeed at it, but we’ll try.” Moving Kessel would certainly help that cause.
As for who that person that they’re looking at is – who knows? But they are in dire need of a defenseman, though Chiarelli says he’s focusing on drafting the best player available, regardless of position.
